Indian Govt asks Auto Industries to switch to electric cars

Union Minister for road transport and highways  said " Its time for the auto industry to manufacture more electric vehicles and I am confident electric vehicles will be a success story".
Mr. Nitin Gadkari also said that the success of electric cars depends on the pricing and if the automobile companies do more research and bring down the prices then the electric cars can sell very well in our market.
At present we have only two fully electric vehicles in our market, The Mahindra Reva and Mahindra Verito Electric Vehicle .
Mahindra and Mahindra  Executive Director, Mr. Pawan Kumar Goenka said that the country needs to attract global auto companies to do research on the development of electric cars for our market.
While, Tata Motors is also planning to launch the Electric range of buses by the end of this year.
